Ashlee Simpson's down bridal hairstyle: big high chignon at back (People, June 2, 2008)
Women have been interested in celebrity hairstyles as far back as the 1930s, when the movie industry in America was really getting going, and they are almost equally interesting in the stars' wedding day hairdos. Sure, they are more interested in their wedding gowns, but still want to know other important aspects of their wedding looks.
The hairstyles of famous brides have always been a matter of interest to the public in general and, of course, to brides in particular as they plan their own wedding. They are typically the best source of dream wedding beauty inspiration.
Since many brides have visited Elegant Hairstyles hoping to find celebrity wedding hairstyles, pictures of a few are highlighted below. Note that, whenever possible, the links are directly to images on other sites, not web pages. (They may be changed without notice; they were last checked on May 21, 2008.)
There aren't very many celebrity weddings every year, so it's difficult to find many of the latest star bridal hairstyles, even though, of course, they are the kind most brides want to review.
Jenna Bush's wedding hairstyle: down with light yellow rose (People, May 26, 2008)
The best source of the most recent celebrity wedding hairstyles is Instyle Weddings. (This is the sister publication of InStyle magazine; its website is instyleweddings.com.) One issue in 2008 featured the wedding of famous bride Katharine McPhee. She wore her hair down in a very natural look. One comment she made is that she feels some brides go overboard at their wedding with their hair; she thinks you should look like yourself.
Another top source of celeb wedding hairdos is Bridal Star Magazine, which, as the title suggests, includes photos of famous stars on their wedding day, plus lots of details. It actually covers the stars in their real-life weddings and other celebs who get married on soap operas and other TV shows, because their hairdos are just as elegant.
The regular tabloids also feature the big celebrity weddings (usually on the front cover), but they don't necessarily pay special attention to the bride's hair the way InStyle does, along with bridal beauty issues. Those special tabloid issues disappear quickly, but you could possibly find one or more on eBay, searching by the brides's name and/or wedding date (month/year).
Mariah Carey's wedding pictures (People, May 19, 2008)
Mariah Carey's bridal hairstyle is more visible in her beach photo (bottom left) than her main wedding picture on the cover of People magazine. It was similar to her signature everyday style. It was down and wavy; it was full of beautiful medium to small waves.
"We got married at sunset on the beach," said Mariah. "We were trying to get the really golden light."
Other celeb hairstyles are still relevant because most celebrity brides wear classic wedding hairstyles that never go out of style, and still make good choices today. Here are some of them.
Eva Longoria Parker had a simple but sweet long down hairstyle with big soft waves at her wedding. She's worn more fancy hairstyles on the red carpet, but the easy one at her wedding was very nice and feminine, too.
Apparently the popular celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves (who is known for styling Jessica Simpson's hair, among other stars), did Eva's wedding hair. "Every girl has in her mind what she'll look like the day she gets married," he said.
Her wedding gown was very flattering. Speaking of her fairytale wedding, Eva said, "This was above and beyond what I ever wanted or imagined my wedding to be like."
Catherine Zeta Jones wore a big updo at her wedding. Her hair was wrapped up and resting on the top of her head. Catherine also wore a unique and intricate bridal headband. She was dressed in a huge wedding gown. The full-length picture showing both her hairdo and gown was on the front cover of OK magazine.
To find more celebrity wedding hairstyles, look up which stars got married in recent years, and then search around online for their wedding pictures.
Nikki Cox (December 29, 2006). Nikki wore a big, classic, and very cute low wedding chignon with a tiara.
Ana Ortiz (June 9, 2007). Ana had her hair in a small low side chignon.
Julianna Margulies (November 10, 2007). The bride had the most beautiful long down hairstyle. It was slightly tied at the back.
Marcia Cross (June 24, 2006). The red-haired celebrity bride wore her pretty, soft, wavy hair down. It was similar to her everyday look, but it was a little more dressy and "perfect."
Avril Lavigne (July 15, 2006). Down, with gentle waves, and perfect blonde haircolor. Slightly piecey near the ends. A very sexy bridal hairstyle.
